Knauf UK GmbH -  Plasterboard Manufacturer
Installation of 37 Tonne Drum Cooler and Running Frame at Knauf Gypsum Plant Sittingbourne Kent

Relocation of a 4.185M high x 37 tonne drum cooler and running frame from its outside storage position into the Clacination plant via a 4.2M high roller shutter door. Manoeuvring it into its final installation position was achieved utilising 80 tonne capacity machine moving skates and 2 x 7.5 tonne forklift trucks.
Using hydraulic lifting jacks and hardwood packing timbers, it was lifted to its installation height of 1.2 metres to the bottom of the running frame. The support frame was then bolted into position and the supporting underlegs were welded into place.

Once in the installation position the drum cooler was jacked up to its operating position and the underollers were replaced in their original positions and aligned and leveled to manufacturers tolerances.
The works were undertaken over a weekend to minimise disruption on the site.
